With more details about Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017 expected to be revealed at this year’s Directions EMEA conference, we here at TVision wanted to let you know what to expect from the upcoming release.

Tighter integration with other apps

Firstly, Dynamics NAV 2017 will offer much tighter integration between Office 365 – particularly between NAV and Outlook. There will also be embedded Power BI, Microsoft’s data visualisation and business analysis tool which is shaping up to be an exciting addition alongside other Microsoft solutions such as Cortana Intelligence, PowerApps and Flow.

Continued improvements to NAV

Out-of-the-box integration with Dynamics CRM, along with a lot of the features brought in with the current version, such as workflows and incoming electronic document processing (OCR), will be improved and rounded-out in NAV 2017.

It’s also set to bring the ability to set inventory item attributes (for example, colour or size) so you can search for items just by the parameters and quickly limit lists by specific values, and you’ll also be able to categorise items. Hierarchies of item categories can be created and you can assign attributes to each category. When adding items to a category, they will inherit the attributes of the category – ensuring a common set of attributes on related items, speeding up the assignment of attributes to similar items, and allowing filtering and navigation of related items based on those categories.

Finance

Within the Finance module, NAV 2017 will bring the ability to apply account categories to the Chart of Accounts. Payment reconciliation will see some improvements, along with simpler fixed asset management. You’ll also be able to cancel credit memos, much like you can for sales and purchase invoices, and (accountants rejoice!) there’s improved support for third party bank feeds like Yodlee.

CRM

Finally, you’ll see some significant improvements to the built-in CRM functionality. It’ll be simpler to use, and there’s a new Sales & Relationship Management role centre which showcases the improved relationship management functionality within Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017.

NAV continues to evolve to meet the ever-increasing needs and complexity of business. At TVision we’re excited about this new release and look forward to bringing the benefits of NAV 2017 to our customers.
