Woking, 13th December 2019. TVision Technology are delighted to have been accredited as a Living Wage Employer by the Living Wage Foundation.

This award recognises employers who are committed to pay all their head office staff the Living Wage, as per the Living Wage Employer agreement.

The Living Wage Foundation celebrate and recognise the leadership of responsible employers who choose to go further and pay a real Living Wage based on the cost of living, not just the government minimum.

The real Living Wage is the only rate calculated according to the costs of living. It provides a voluntary benchmark for employers that wish to ensure their staff earn a wage they can live on. Since 2011 the Living Wage movement has delivered a pay rise to over 200,000 people and put over £1Billion extra into the pockets of low paid workers.

What is the Living Wage?

In April 2016 the government introduced a higher minimum wage rate for all staff over 25 years of age inspired by the Living Wage campaign. This is generally known as the ‘national living wage’.

For under 25s, the minimum wage rates also take into account affordability for employers.

However, the government’s ‘national living wage’ is not calculated according to what employees and their families need to live.

The real Living Wage rates are higher because they are independently-calculated based on what people need to get by. That’s why all employers that can afford to do so are encouraged to ensure their employees earn a wage that meets the costs of living, not just the government minimum.

The real Living Wage is the only UK wage rate that is voluntarily paid by nearly 6,000 UK businesses who believe their staff deserve a fair day’s pay for a hard day’s work.

Katherine Chapman, Director, Living Wage Foundation said: “We’re delighted that TVision Technology has joined the movement of nearly 6,000 responsible employers across the UK who voluntarily commit to go further than the government minimum to make sure all their staff earn enough to live on.

They join thousands of small businesses, as well as household names such as LUSH, Heathrow Airport, Barclays, West Ham Football Club and many more. These businesses recognise that paying the real Living Wage is the mark of a responsible employer and they, like TVision, believe that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay.”

Pippa Odell, Managing Director, TVision Technology says on the accreditation, “Paying people a fair wage is a sign of respect and acknowledgement of their importance within the business. Technology companies need people to make their tech really work for customers. We strive to be a people first business, and signing up to the Living Wage is a part of that journey.”
